What is SEO or Search Engine Optimization?
SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a method use by many website owners in order to increase traffic to their websites and make their presence in the worldwide web more visible. The higher the rank of a website is in search engines, the greater chance it has to be found online and the more traffic it will get. SEO is widely used these days. In fact, many website owners spend a lot of money for SEO. There are two strategies use in a SEO campaign, on-page optimization and off-page optimization.
On-Page Optimization
On-Page Optimization refers to the factors that affect the website itself. Mostly, on-page optimization has to do with the website content and website structure. If your website sells cosmetic products then all pages must reflect this image. Each and every page of the website must contain keywords that are relevant to your niche.
Factors that are relevant to on-page optimization include:
1. The use of correct and important keywords that are related to your niche.
2. Use of Meta tags and Meta keywords.
3. Employing right keyword density in all the pages of your site.
Off-Page Optimization
Off-page optimization works by getting many back links to a website. The way to get many back links to a website is to use various link-building methods like: article submission, blog creation, blog commenting, press release submission, directory submission, forum posting and many more.
Article Submission
The usual practice is website owners hire article writers to do the job. The articles written must be rich with your keywords. Like the example given above, if your website sells cosmetic products then you may use keywords like whitening products, which is an “In thing” right now or “ best anti-aging products.” If the articles are ready, then they are to be submitted in article submission sites. They are many article submission sites all over the internet. There are those that impose strict rules on article submission, while there are those lenient.
Blog Creation
Another way to get good back links is thru blog creation. Your blog must contain relevant and interesting content to drive traffic to your blog.
Blog Commenting
Find high-ranking blog sites that are relevant to your niche. Make intellectual comments like you are an expert on the topic that has been discussed. If other blog readers find your comment interesting, for sure they will click the link to your site.
Press Release Submission
Compared to articles, press releases are short but they are good in ranking sites. Press releases announce the launching of a business or product.
Directory Submission
Think of the yellow pages, that’s what directory submission sites are and they are very useful online. There are several directory submission sites, free or paid. What directory sites do is they link a website to other websites and categorize the links.
Forum Posting
Forum sites or message boards with many registered members are also good in ranking sites. You can discuss on anything but they are forum sites that specialize on particular niches. They are forum sites that have huge membership like forum sites about internet marketing.
